These workshops have been designed to provide an introduction to using the computer for the basic elements of design and ideas which can then be interpreted into stitched textiles, be it embroidered, quilted or a piece of textile art.
The workshops are based on Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 (previous versions of Photoshop Elements will also meet the needs of the course) There are a number of Paint programs on the market and many of the features explained in the workshops will be easily recognised if you are using a program other than the one specified for these workshops.
The Workshops
Each one takes you through a range of exercises and practical activities to enable you to gain an understanding of how to use a graphics program to generate images from which you can create designs that can be interpreted into stitched textiles. How you interpret the images will be a personal decision based on your preferred methods of stitching and embellishing textiles. Support is given in the form of suggestions for you to use as you wish.
